On the evening of March 31, Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, presided over a work conference at the Hunan Provincial Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters. It was held to study and implement the notice issued by the State Council joint prevention and control mechanism against COVID-19 on promoting epidemic prevention and control during the Qingming Festival, and map out anti-epidemic efforts during the festival. Governor Mao stressed the need to follow the guiding principles of President Xi Jinping's important speeches, directives, and instructions on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, and strictly implement the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and work requirements of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. Mao urged the province to make epidemic control its top priority. Efforts should be made to fulfill the responsibilities of local authority, department, unit, and individual and achieve maximum effect in prevention and control with minimum cost.

At the conference, the Hunan Health Commission, Hunan Provincial Public Security Department, Hunan Communications Administration, Hunan Provincial Transportation Department, China Railway Guangzhou Group Changsha Office, Hunan Airport Group and other units reported their efforts in epidemic prevention and control. Mao fully affirmed the province's achievements in COVID-19 containment. He added that since the outbreak of this round of epidemic, the whole province followed the requirements and implemented decisions of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government and made effective efforts in achieving the overall stability of epidemic prevention and control and economic development.
