The Hunan Department of Culture and Tourism recently issued a notification on promoting construction of intangible cultural heritage demonstration workshops, villages and towns, and streets at the provincial level. It aimed to elevate Hunan's systematic protection of intangible cultural heritages.

In 2022, the authority will select and promote construction of:
Twenty provincial-level intangible cultural heritage demonstration workshops which have been effectively boosting employment, increasing income, and facilitating rural revitalization;
Twenty provincial-level intangible cultural heritage demonstration villages and towns in which the intangible cultural heritage items have been well preserved, reasonably protected and utilized, and the traditional cultural connotation is profound; and,
Ten provincial-level intangible cultural heritage demonstration streets which have aggregations of intangible cultural heritage industries, are in accord with the orientations of Hunan’s cultural tourism development, and have remarkable achievements in driving cultural and tourism consumptions.
