Since March 14, a total of 27 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Changsha, including 21 confirmed cases and 6 asymptomatic cases. Two people have been discharged from hospital and 25 are under treatment in hospital. The hospitalized patients are in stable condition. The gene sequencing results show that all the cases were infected by a sub-variant of Omicron known as BA.2. The epidemiological investigation and analysis found that the transmission chain is evident.
In light of the current epidemic situation, Changsha has continued to expand nucleic acid testing and screening. Nucleic acid tests have been increased for key at-risk groups and people in the lockdown, control and prevention areas. In additon, regional nucleic acid testing has been intensified, and several rounds of nucleic acid testing and screening have been carried out. From March 12 to 12:00 on March 31, an accumulative number of 42,029,447 nucleic acid samples were collected across the city.
