On the morning of March 31, the Hunan government immediately convened a teleconference and a plenary meeting of the Hunan Provincial Work Safety Commission after a national video and telephone conference on work safety. The government outlined work safety, flood control, and drought relief measures. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, stressed the need to thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping’s important discourses on work safety, and disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief. Mao added that we need to get a head start and seize the initiative on every occasion, to create a safe, healthy, harmonious, and stable social environment, and take practical measures to pave the way for a successful 20th National Party Congress.

Governor Mao emphasized the need to highlight work priorities, fully implement 15 measures raised by the State Council’s Work Safety Commission, identify and address risks in civil aviation, mines, hazardous chemicals, building construction, firefighting, transportation, and new fields and new forms. These efforts will help resolutely prevent and defuse major risks on work safety.
