Changsha held a press conference on March 28 to brief the media on its latest COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.
On March 28, three COVID-19 cases were found in Changsha during routine nucleic acid tests among the quarantined people. They are now in stable condition and being treated in isolation at hospitals. Changsha issued the Notice on Strengthening Epidemic Prevention and Control Emergency Management on Campuses in the current epidemic situation. It aims to enhance schools' prevention and control and management at all levels, and effectively provide services to students involved in the epidemic.
After the epidemic outbreak, Changsha immediately carried out epidemiological investigations and virus source tracing, timely adjusted the medium-risk areas, and designated lockdown, control, and prevention areas. To cut the transmission chains of the virus, teachers, and students in Yali Middle School and Yali-Peicui School have been put in centralized or home quarantine. The two schools suspend classes for two weeks starting from March 26. Online classes are organized and being taught during this period.
Meanwhile, Changsha strictly guards the entrances to schools. Venue QR codes are seen at schools at all levels in the city. Irrelevant personnel are not allowed to enter. Teachers, students, staff members, and parents who pick up their children are reminded and urged to wear masks and complete full vaccination. Campus gatherings and off-campus activities, including training, internships, and practices, have been suspended since March 14. Campuses are disinfected and ventilated regularly. Diners eat meals at different times to avoid gatherings. Partitions are added to dining tables to separate each other. The meals can also be separately packed and delivered to classrooms.
For epidemic prevention and control on campus, Changsha will also implement mass nucleic acid sampling and testing to ensure no blind spots left and no persons missed. In addition, it will carry out emergency drills and do a solid job in personnel control, life services, and online teaching. It will also set up professional medical rescue and psychological support teams and open a 24-hour psychological assistance hotline.
