On the afternoon of March 28, Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, presided over a meeting of the Hunan Provincial Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters, to specify current COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control work.

He asked to follow the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches, directives, and instructions on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control; give top priority to people’s safety and health; take epidemic control a most important work; firm up and further anti-pandemic efforts; strive to carry out ten measures on epidemic prevention and control; realize zero COVID-19 cases in social management as soon as possible; and, ensure that the epidemic is under control and the development won’t stall.

Provincial leaders Li Dianxun, Zhang Yingchun, He Baoxiang, Chen Fei, Xu Xianhui, Wang Yi’ou, and Secretary General Deng Qunce, attended.

Governor Mao emphasized that this round of epidemic involves the venues with high density and flow of population such as schools and commercial streets. In addition, the Qingming Festival is approaching and the flow of people and vehicles may increase. This will cause great pressure on both imported and domestic infections. He noted that efforts should be made to:

- Prepare for complexity and difficulty in COVID-19 response at home and abroad;

- Follow President Xi Jinping’s guidance on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control;

- Put people and their lives first;

- Adhere to the dynamic zero-COVID policy and strategies to tackle both imported and domestic infections;

- Make epidemic control our top priority;

- Effectively implement various anti-pandemic policies;

- maintain the principal of strict prevention and control;

- Meet the “Three Zero and Four Most” requirements; namely, strive for the best results with the fastest speed, in the shortest time, and at the least cost, to ensure that areas where cases have occurred achieve “zero spillover”, areas without cases maintain “zero imports”, and medical institutions maintain “zero hospital infections”;

- Carry out ten anti-pandemic measures;

- Realize zero COVID-19 cases in social management as soon as possible;

- Achieve the greatest prevention and control effect at the least cost; and,

- Ensure that the epidemic does not get out of control and the development does not stall.
