On March 23, the Hunan Healthcare Security Administration, Hunan Health Commission, and Hunan Administration for Market Regulation jointly issued a notification on the price and payment of COVID-19 testing service. COVID-19 antigen testing service was added, and the COVID-19 nucleic acid test price was lowered. The new price policy will take effect on March 28. 

According to the notification, COVID-19 antigen testing will be available in public medical institutions, and the prices will be not more than 12 yuan per test, covering testing and reagent fees. The testing fees should not exceed 5 yuan per test, and the antigen test reagents and sampling apparatuses will be sold with zero markup.
These government-guided prices are the cap for the medical institutions at all levels in Hunan, for both single and batch testing.

As COVID-19 nucleic acid testing has become a routine, the prices are further lowered. Based on the notification, the prices for one sample test will be cut from 25 yuan to 20 yuan, while the total fees for testing and reagent will be reduced from 40 yuan to 28 yuan per test. The prices for mixed sample tests will decrease from 10 yuan to 8 yuan per person.

Beyond that, people who only take COVID-19 tests, including nucleic acid and antigen testing, will not be charged for outpatient examination in public hospitals. The patients who take antigen self-testing should not be charged for antigen testing in public hospitals.
