He stressed thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on ecological civilization, and persisting in taking a long-term perspective, respecting objective laws, and prioritizing ecological remediation when accelerating dredging and ecological remediation of the Dongting Lake. He urged to respond to President Xi's instruction of "protecting the Yangtze River" with effective work in Dongting Lake treatment.

Governor Mao pointed out that, water is the source of life, and can be powerful enough to destroy all things. He asked to enhance the work related to water security, water resource, water ecology, water environment, and water culture in a systematic and all-round way, based on necessity and feasibility. We should focus on sewage treatment, flood prevention, flood drainage, water supply guarantee, and water saving, to boost ecological dredging and remediation of the Dongting Lake.
