On March 2nd, the CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotives Co., Ltd. (CRRC ZELC) received a letter of thanks from the Monterey metro operator in Mexico. “We are rather satisfied with the trains of the Monterey Metro Line 3,” the letter read.

Monterrey is the third-largest city in Mexico. The Monterrey Metro line 3, with eight stations along its 7.5-km-long route, links the station of Hospital Metropolitano in downtown Monterrey and that of General I, Zaragoza, in San Nicolas. In December 2019, the Monterrey Transportation Agency and the CRRC ZELC contracted on order of 26 metro trains. CRRC ZELC overcame the epidemic's impacts and completed research and production of the trains in that October, two months ahead of schedule. The train is designed to run at 80 km per hour, with a minimum turn radius of 25 meters. It can run with the different carriages according to passenger flows. The line opened to operation on February 28th of last year, marking the start of China's rail transit equipment service in Mexico.

The metro line 3 trains ran for more than 2.8 million km in the past year, handling over 40 million passenger trips. “We keep in touch with the client regularly and pay close attention to train operation, to solve technical problems promptly,” said Mo Xianghua, after-sale service director of CRRC ZELC for the project.

"In the perspectives of train design, field debugging, and routine maintenance, CRRC ZELC has done a good job in guaranteeing safe travel of trains and improving the comfort of drivers and passengers. All of these were carefully based on innovative technologies, a rapid response, and considerate services," the letter read. The metro operator hoped to continue to maintain good cooperation between both sides, to build an efficient, comfortable, and safe public transport system in Monterrey.
