Hunan Province is Hong Kong’s primary source of fresh products. Therefore, the Changsha Customs will continue to ensure a stable supply of fresh products, including vegetables and eggs, to meet the living demands of Hong Kong residents and assist Hong Kong in fighting COVID-19, according to the Changsha Customs on February 28th.
At 21:00 on February 24th, staffers of a vegetable processing plant in Yongzhou City sorted and packed fresh vegetables. The agricultural products would be loaded at night and transported to Hong Kong after the on-site inspection by customs staff members. The products were then placed on shelves of Hong Kong supermarkets at 9:00 am the following day.
On February 24th, more than 800,000 eggs produced by a Changde-based company were transported to Hong Kong after on-site customs clearance by customs staff members. In addition, the company has increased the supply of eggs to Hong Kong after the Spring Festival. On average, more than 800,000 eggs are supplied to Hong Kong every day. Hong Kong residents recognize the “Everyday Fresh Egg” Brand.
The Changsha Customs has opened a green channel to facilitate the supply of materials to Hong Kong. Priorities will be given to companies applying for the examination, inspection, and customs clearance for agricultural products. Round-the-clock services for customs clearance will be offered. As of February 24th, 35,000 tons of vegetables and 1,310 tons of fresh eggs were transported from Hunan to Hong Kong.
