Hunan’s first integrated automated nucleic acid test laboratory rolled off production line at the East Industrial Park of the Yiyang Hi-tech Zone on February 25, 2022. It was developed by a Hunan-based intelligent manufacturing technology company.
The lab, with the basic functions of a P2+ biosafety laboratory, is reconstructed from a standard container. It can be used alone, and can also work as a portable lab together with a motor tractor. It can reach the designated site swiftly when a public health emergency breaks out, and carry out rapid experiments including sampling, detecting, and identifying suspicious pathogens. The application of such lab would facilitate cities to make quick response and action. Currently, it is mainly used for COVID-19 nucleic acid testing. Beyond that, it can serve screening and detection of various diseases, such as flu, colorectal cancer, and HPV, which is adaptable for public health services in the post-epidemic era.
The company will invest 200 million yuan to build a production base in Yiyang, which will be capable of producing 300 such portable labs annually.
