A New Year’s symposium was held on February 12 among chairmen of Changsha’s chambers of commerce in other places at home and abroad. The theme was “Welcoming Fellow Townsmen, Returning to Hometowns, and Building Hometowns”. A project signing ceremony was held simultaneously. Main municipal leaders and over 20 chairmen of chamber of commerce and Changsha-born entrepreneurs gathered together. They talked about their hometowns, shared their feelings about hometowns, and sought common development.
A chamber of commerce is a window and a calling card of a city for publicity, a bridge and a bond for communication, and a bridgehead and a vanguard for opening-up. Changsha has held the activity of "Welcoming Fellow Townsmen, Returning to Hometowns, and Building Hometowns" for 8 consecutive years. With the help of chambers of commerce, outstanding fellow townsmen and entrepreneurs were guided to invest and start a business in their hometowns. This has injected strong impetus into Changsha’s high-quality development.
After previous friendly negotiations, nine major investment projects were signed on site, with a total investment of 12.82 billion yuan. The projects involve various industries such as artificial intelligence, new energy, biomedicine and intelligent logistics, as well as various forms of business such as intelligent manufacturing, headquarters economy and new infrastructure. The characteristics of “gathering clusters, strengthening chains and promoting opening-up” are shown.
In recent years, Changsha has given full play to the role of the “liaison office”, “promotion office” and “service office” of chambers of commerce in other places. Investment promotion conferences were held, investment attraction experts were hired, and group inspection tours of Changsha were organized. These efforts facilitated the exchanges and cooperation among private enterprises, guided chairmen of chambers of commerce and Hunan-born entrepreneurs to invest and develop business in their hometowns, and promoted Changsha's high-quality economic and social development. According to statistics, more than 10 investment promotion conferences were held in 2021, and 21 projects were signed, with a total contract value of over 100 billion yuan.
