The China-Europe freight train service in Changsha remained in operation during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday. Fifteen China-Europe freight trains to and from Changsha had been operated during the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 34%. The freight trains carried goods worth an overall value of 51.12 million USD. This effectively met the shipping needs of enterprises and ensured the smooth flow of international logistics channels.
As snow and ice hit many places around the Spring Festival holiday, relevant departments of Changsha worked overtime to ensure the regular operation of China-Europe freight trains. During the holiday, the trains departed from Changsha to Russia, Belarus, Poland, Ukraine and other countries. These deliveries satisfied the demands for trade with countries and regions along the Belt and Road in Eurasia, ensuring the stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain.
Given the risk of imported COVID-19 cases, a contactless transport organization mode was adopted to ensure the safe and orderly operation of the trains.
Changsha handled 1,030 China-Europe freight trains in 2021, rising 94.34% from the same period last year and hitting a record high. The transported goods were valued at 2.769 billion USD and weighed 680,300 tons. The cumulative number of freight trains stood at the national forefront. Throughout the year, 90 customized trains were set for Hunan’s manufacturing enterprises, including Sany, Zoomlion, and Geely. This further gave play to the role of China-Europe freight trains as an essential strategic transport channel; ensured the smooth flow of the global supply chain and industrial chain; and facilitated the rapid development of Hunan’s export-oriented economy.
