On February 7, the Hunan Highway Network Monitoring and Command Center announced the situation of highway network operation during the Spring Festival holiday.
According to the data, traffic volume at highway entrances and exits in the province during the seven-day holiday was 23.871 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, and the average daily vehicles reached 3.41 million, which was 1.7 times higher than usual. February 6 or the sixth day of the first lunar month saw the most vehicles. There were 5.306 million ones, 2.65 times higher than usual.
Vehicles mainly run on Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, Xuchang-Guangzhou Expressway, Wuhan-Shenzhen Expressway, Erenhot-Guangzhou Expressway, Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, Changsha-Zhangjiajie Expressway, and Changsha-Zhijiang Expressway, accounting for 54.53% of the total traffic volume during the holiday.
Toll stations with large traffic flow are those located around Changsha. Among them, the Changsha West Toll Station of Changsha-Zhangjiajie Expressway, the Xueshi Toll Station of Changsha-Xiangtan West Expressway and the Changsha Toll Station of Hangzhou-Changsha Expressway ranked top three in terms of traffic volume at highway entrances and exits.
During the Spring Festival, the number of small passenger cars on highways hit a record high, accounting for 97.33% of the total.
The number of trans-provincial self-drive individuals has declined. The trans-provincial traffic volume of expressways in the province was 1.513 million, a year-on-year decrease of 30.65%. Among them, traffic flow between Hunan and Hubei provinces accounted for 31.74% of the total trans-provincial traffic volume; that between Hunan and Guangdong provinces and between Hunan and Jiangxi provinces ranked second and third respectively.
