According to the data released by the Hunan Airport Group on February 7, during the Spring Festival holiday, Hunan Province's airports registered a passenger throughput of 288,800 and completed  takeoffs and landings of 3,050 flights, an increase of 52.5% and 35.1% year-on-year respectively.

Changsha Airport registered a passenger throughput of 228,500 and completed takeoffs and landings of 2,244 flights, an increase of 56.5% and 47.6% respectively over the same period in 2021. The number of takeoffs and landings at feeder airports in Hunan Province increased by 6.8%, and that of passenger throughput grew 32.6%.

The Hunan Airport Group said that in general, although the number of passenger trips during the Spring Festival holiday this year has not recovered to the level before the epidemic, it has increased significantly compared with 2021, and maintained median growth.

In view of the following characteristics: relatively large passenger flow before the holiday, no centralized return trips after the holiday, and obvious regional passenger flow, the Hunan Airport Group actively coordinated airlines to maintain the number of flights to key cities. The major destinations for the passengers in Changsha Airport were Chongqing, Chengdu, Haikou, Sanya, Kunming and other first-tier provincial capital cities and popular tourist cities. Flights of other feeder airports to Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities have increased.
