Activities Held for Children to Mark Xiaonian

January 25, 2022, the 23rd day of the 12th month in the lunar calendar, marked Xiaonian or the “Little New Year” in northern China. And residents in southern China celebrate it on the 24th day, which falls on January 26.

Between Laba Festival, on the eighth day of the last lunar month, and Xiaonian, families throughout China undertake a thorough house cleaning, sweeping out the old in preparation for the New Year.

The photo shows volunteers of the Zixing Volunteers Association organizing colorful events including lantern riddle guessing and dumplings making for children to celebrate Xiaonian.

As the Year of the Tiger nears, Zixing City has taken various measures to care for children of migrant workers who will stay put during the Spring Festival holiday.

On January 25, a volunteer guessed lantern riddles with a child together.

On January 25, children made tiger-themed handicrafts.
