Hunan’s Outbound Investment Ranks First in Central China in 2021

On January 21, a meeting to summarize the overseas work of Hunan provincial enterprises “going global” was held in Changsha. An exchange meeting of associations of enterprises with foreign investment was held simultaneously. According to the meeting, Hunan Province’s outbound investment increased 12.1% to 1.67 billion USD, ranking tenth in the country and first in central China. The turnover of foreign contracted projects reached 2.76 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 22.5%.

In 2021, central enterprises represented by the Sinohydro Engineering Bureau 8 Co., Ltd., China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., and, Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Limited; state-owned enterprises under the Hunan government represented by Hunan Construction Engineering Group and Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group; and, private enterprises represented by HNAC Technology Co., Ltd. joined hands to go global and engaged in a batch of influential projects including Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway and China-Thailand Railway. Major projects have been launched, including a surface water-treatment plant in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and a tire plant in Pakistan. Projects such as the “Two Industrial Parks and One Road” in Laos, a metal materials industrial park in Cambodia, Hunan industrial park in Nigeria, and a rubber factory in Côte d’Ivoire are progressing steadily. Rankings of major indicators of these projects rose steadily, with structure optimized and benefits enhanced.

"We continue to develop high-quality markets such as Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Ghana, and expand new markets with huge development potential," said Gui Zijun, deputy general manager of Hunan Construction Engineering Group. Gui added that in 2020, the group signed a contract worth of 909 million yuan for New Zealand apartment project. In 2021, it successfully expanded markets in the Middle East and Europe and had new projects in Iraq, Serbia and Israel.
