The event of “2022 Loving Care Delivered to Those in Need” was launched in Changsha on January 12. It was hosted by the Hunan Provincial Civil Affairs Department and the Hunan Charity Federation. Wang Yi’ou, vice governor of Hunan Province, attended and announced the start of the activity.
At the end of last year, the General Office of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the General Office of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government issued the "Notice on Doing a Good Job During the New Year's Day and Spring Festival in 2022". It stressed the need to increase subsistence allowances, improve mechanisms to provide better care for the people in need, and innovate philanthropy, so as to make the people share the fruits of reform and development. The Hunan Provincial Civil Affairs Department, the Hunan Provincial Emergency Management Department, the Hunan Provincial Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, and the Hunan Charity Federation, joined hands with related departments at provincial, city, and county levels to mobilize enterprises and the public to care for the people in need. Nearly 380 million yuan of financial funds and social donations were collected through visits, online fundraising and other forms. Later on, the civil affairs authority will visit about 520,000 needy people across the province.
A total of 7.1 million yuan in donations were made by charitable organizations on the site. The Hunan Provincial Civil Affairs Department and the Hunan Charity Federation accepted the donations and conferred plaques titled “Charitable Enterprise” to them. Ten recipient representatives received materials including smoked meat, sausage, and Spring Festival couplets.
Since 2004, Hunan Province has held the activity for 18 consecutive years. In recent five years, the province has raised nearly 2 billion yuan and visited more than 2 million poor households.
