The CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. announced on January 10 that, its first international standard -- Railway Applications - Current Collection Systems - Pantographs, Testing Methods for Contact Strips (IEC 62499:2021) -- was recently publicized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This was the first time that the company hosted the drafting of an international standard, which is also a new advancement of China’s railway standards internationalization.
 
IEC is one of the worldwide organizations for standardization. This standard gives rules for testing methods for newly manufactured pantographs contact strips.
In June 2018, the CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive was authorized to host the revision task of this standard, under the guidance and support of the National Railway Administration and the CRRC Group. It organized 22 international experts from seven countries, including UK, France, Germany, and Japan, to participate in this work. After three-year discussion, testing, writing and modification, this standard was passed at an international voting with a unanimous vote.
 
This standard integrates worldwide innovative outcomes and application experiences. China’s advanced technologies in such fields as test of wear properties were also included, to contribute Chinese solutions to improving the contact strips testing technology and elevate Chinese enterprise’s international influence in rail transit circle worldwide.

“This marks that CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive has become a rule maker of international standard, and opens a new chapter of internationalization from products to standardization.
