The Malanshan Young College Students Video Cultural and Creative Festival was launched at Xiangtan University on January 5.
The festival follows the guidelines of “culture + technology” and integrates video cultural and creative industry with “V Valley of China” video industry, to encourage young college students to pass down red or revolutionary traditions, record the development of the times, and demonstrate youth strength through lens.
The Malanshan Young College Students Video Cultural and Creative Festival can trace its origins back to 2004 when the "Chinese College Students DV Culture and Art Festival" was launched by Xiangtan University. Over the past 18 years, it has attracted nearly 200,000 young college students from more than 100 universities at home and abroad. It has built an exchange platform to show college students’ vitality and spread positive energy.
In 2022, the event is upgraded and renamed as the Malanshan Young College Students Video Cultural and Creative Festival. The festival will last till May this year. It includes 4 main activities:
-- a press conference and launching ceremony;
-- nationwide collection and mass-election of video cultural and creative works;
-- master class; and,
-- Malanshan Maker Study Tour and a ceremony.
The collection of video cultural and creative works is open to young college students from home and abroad. Focusing on the theme of my country, my league, my dream, and new Hunan, submissions in forms of feature films, documentaries, cartoons, creative advertisements, MVs, interactive videos, popular science videos, themed promotional videos, and experimental short films are available. Well-known video cultural and creative teams, video production masters, industry insiders and other experts will be invited to review the works and finally select the works from the perspective of the content and the filming technique.
“Young students are the witnesses and participants of the development of video culture, and they are also pioneers and creators,” said Liu Jing, deputy secretary of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China. He hoped that more young people will actively participate in this event.
