The 2021 "Changsha in the Eyes of Foreigners" series activities were held on December 29th. More than thirty international students in Changsha from over ten countries, including Russia, Pakistan, Laos, Nigeria, and Yemen, were invited to experience the "Changsha taste".

The event was guided by the Publicity Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee; organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Changsha Municipal People's Government and the Publicity Office of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee; and, undertaken by the Office of the Changsha People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. It aims to facilitate foreign friends who work, study, and live in Changsha to feel the "heat" of this Internet-popular city, its historical and cultural heritage, and its opening-up and development achievements, to better understand Changsha, integrate into Changsha, love Changsha, and thus promote the friendship between the peoples of different countries.
Initiated in 2005, the event has been held for over ten sessions. As a result, it has become an essential brand of Changsha's foreign exchanges.
This year, the event displayed Changsha’s historical, cultural and industrial achievements. In addition, foreign friends visited the "Helen Foster Snow Photo Exhibition Tour (Changsha)", experienced the autonomous driving technology, and felt the landscape and artistic charm of Changsha.

"I have been in Changsha for almost eight years, and this is the second time that I have participated in such experience activities. I feel that China is great, and Changsha is the shining pearl among many Chinese cities," said Amal, from Yemen, who is studying for a Ph.D. in applied economics at the Hunan University. She was impressed by the autonomous driving technology. She said that, in the near future, technology would surely change people's lives in a more profound way.
Hamid Semia, from Afghanistan, has been in China for four years. A few months ago, she moved to Changsha to further her postgraduate study in journalism and communication at Central South University. "I had only been to Orange Isle before. I didn't know there were such amazing and beautiful places in Changsha as the Changsha intelligent connected vehicle testing area and Xie Zilong Art Museum." She said that the event had deepened her understanding of Changsha, and she will use her professional knowledge to introduce Changsha to her family and friends.
During the event, the Publicity Office of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Changsha Municipal People's Government presented traditional gifts such as the Chinese character "fu", and paper-cut works to each international student. In addition, they expressed their best new-year wishes to them.
