Nanchang-Changsha 1000 kV UHV AC Project Officially Put into Production

On the morning of December 26, a videoconference to mark the Nanchang-Changsha 1000 kV UHV AC project completion and production was held simultaneously in Beijing, Changsha, Nanchang, and Wuhan. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, attended the event at the Hunan venue and pressed the button to mark the start of the power transmission of the project.

A videoconference to mark the Nanchang-Changsha 1000 kV UHV AC project completion and production was held simultaneously in Beijing, Changsha, Nanchang, and Wuhan on the morning of December 26, 2021. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province; Ye Jianchun, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee and acting governor of Jiangxi Province; and, Xin Bao’an, chairman of the board and secretary of the CPC Leadership Group of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), pressed the power transmission button for the project in Hunan, Jiangxi, and Beijing respectively. This marked the official completion and operation of the project.

Li Dianxun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province; Liang Gui, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee and executive deputy governor of Jiangxi Province; Huang Xuenong, director of the Department of Electricity of the National Energy Administration; Zhang Zhigang, general manager of SGCC; and Deng Qunce, secretary general of the People’s Government of Hunan Province, attended.

The Nanchang-Changsha project is the first UHV AC project constructed during the national “14th Five-Year Plan” period. Its total investment is 10.2 billion yuan, the length 2×341 kilometers, and the newly-added substation capacity 12 million kVA. It will optimize the main grid structure of Jiangxi and Hunan, enhance the power supply support capacity of external power into Hunan, and meet Hunan's increasing power demand and the need for power supply structure transformation.It will provide Hunan with a maximum of 4 million kilowatts of power support, which will effectively guarantee Hunan's energy security.

Before the ceremony, Governor Mao and his party also inspected the Xiaoxiang power station of the Nanchang-Changsha project.
