On December 23, Zheng Jianxin, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, mayor of Changsha, and secretary of the CPC Working Committee of the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, met in Changsha with Boun Inthabandith, consul general of the Lao PDR to Changsha, and his delegation. Executive Vice Mayor Liu Mingli attended.
Mayor Zheng thanked Mr. Boun Inthabandith and all the staff of the consulate for their contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation between Changsha and Laos. He noted that, China and Laos are geographically close, culturally connected and emotionally intimate. The Consulate General of Laos in Changsha is the first consular office established by a foreign government in Hunan after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It has played an important role as a bridge for bilateral exchanges and cooperation. In recent years, Changsha and Laos have seen increasingly closer exchanges and deeper bilateral cooperation. He hoped that Mr. Boun Inthabandith will continue to care for and support Changsha’s development, and encourage more Lao friends and entrepreneurs to come to Changsha for sightseeing, inspection, exchange, investment, and business, so as to push bilateral exchanges and cooperation to a deeper and higher level.
Mr. Boun Inthabandith thanked the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government for their strong support for and help to the Consulate General of Laos in Changsha. He said that the consulate will, as always, vigorously promote Changsha, and contribute to promoting bilateral friendly cooperation. He hoped that Laos and Changsha will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and facilitate the establishment of sister city relationship between Changsha and Lao cities that meet the development visions of both sides, so as to open up stable and smooth channels for further expanding bilateral exchanges and achieve win-win cooperation.
