Meijiangnan Interchange to Wentang Interchange, part of the Longtang-Langtang Section of the S50 Changsha-Zhijiang Expressway in Loudi City, was opened to traffic at 4 pm on December 21, 2021. This marked that the whole expressway came into operation. The vehicles from Changsha City to Huaihua City may choose the Longtang-Langtang Expressway, which can shorten the driving mileage by 70 kilometers compared with the route taken via the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway and the Changsha-Xiangtan West Expressway. The Changsha-Zhijiang Expressway has greatly improved the road network structure in Lianyuan City and the northern part of Xinhua County, and shortened the distance from Changsha to Huaihua. It is of great significance to promote the development of local tourism and the interactive development of traffic, transportation, logistics, trade, and economy among the townships along the route, surrounding cities, and the provincial capital.
