The Changsha Customs released statistics on December 9th, 2021. It showed that the customs supervised 1,010 China-Europe Railway Express trains in Hunan Province as of December 7th, including 969 Changsha-Europe Railway Express trains. As a result, the annual traffic volume of the Hunan-Europe Railway Express trains exceeded 1,000, hitting a record high.

The main destinations of Hunan-Europe Railway Express for export are Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and other countries and regions. Daily necessities, furniture, cars, and auto parts, and lamps are the main exports. On the other hand, the main imports are milk powder, wood, and candy.

In 2021, the Changsha Customs has promoted the “advance declaration” of export goods. As a result, the overall customs clearance time has been reduced from 313 minutes in January to the current 6 minutes, ensuring fast customs clearance for trains. The person in charge of the customs supervision authority said that in recent years, Hunan-Europe Railway Express's efficiency has been continuously improving, and the number of opened lines has increased rapidly. It has become an essential channel for Hunan to stably connect the Eurasian continent and integrate into the new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other. Furthermore, it has played an essential role in promoting trade between Hunan and countries along the “Belt and Road” routes.

The “rapid customs clearance for railway entry and exit” and the “export arrival and direct loading” models have been piloted in Changsha Customs. Under these two modes, the import and export goods can reduce container hoisting twice and customs transit procedures twice, and omit yard storage. As a result, the efficiency of customs clearance is significantly improved and the cost reduced. Enterprises may choose the traditional customs clearance mode or the new ones according to their own needs. The first batch of the four pilot tests have all been successfully completed.
