The Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua (Zhangjihuai) High-speed Railway opened to traffic on December 6, 2021. A total of 100,000 tickets were sold as of December 8, according to the data from the China Railway Guangzhou Group.
The passenger trips starting from or arriving at the seven stations – Zhangjiajie West, Furong Town, Guzhang West, Jishou East, Fenghuang Ancient Town, Mayang West, and Huaihua South – amounted to 73,000. About 28,000 passenger trips were handled at Jishou East Station, accounting for nearly 40% of the total. Many passengers traveled between Xiangxi and Greater Bay Area cities such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as between Xiangxi and other Hunan’s cities such as Changsha and Hengyang.
December 10 and 12 mark the first weekend of the opening of the Zhangjihuai High-speed Railway. Stations along the railway will see their first passenger flow peak, with a majority of commuters, short-distance travelers, and family visitors. A total of 16 pairs of trains operate every day to meet passengers’ travel need, leading to such cities as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Wuhan, and Zhengzhou.
