Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua (Zhangjihuai) High-speed Railway opened to traffic on December 6, 2021. On the launching day, a total of 32 trains were operated, leading to such cities as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Changsha, and Kunming. As of 15:00 on that day, more than 24,000 train tickets had been sold. The tickets for some peak period had been sold out. The passenger trips starting from or arriving at five new stations – Furong Town, Guzhang West, Jishou East, Fenghuang Ancient Town, and Mayang West – amounted to over 8,000.

Among the 32 trains operated on the day, there were three starting from Guangzhou South and Shenzhen North stations each and arriving at Zhangjiajie West Station as destination. Six trains ran from Changsha South Station to Zhangjiajie West Station. Jishou East and Zhangjiajie West stations each operated one through train to Beijing. Zhangjiajie West Station operated one through train to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station.

The China Railway Guangzhou Group will, based on passenger flow data analysis, further optimize train operation and passenger services, to satisfy passengers’ needs. During peak times, such as weekends, festivals, and public holidays, it will adjust the train operation schedule accordingly, increase trains towards hot destinations, and enhance high-speed railway transport capacity, in order to boost rural revitalization and economic development in western Hunan areas.
