Hunan Province Launches Cultural Tourism Volunteer Service Activities

The Hunan provincial cultural tourism volunteer service activities were launched in Shaoshan, Xiangtan on December 5. Provincial demonstration activities were held in Xiangtan, Changsha, Hengyang, Loudi, Yueyang cities and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

The events were hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Hunan Provincial Civilization Office, the Hunan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and the Hunan Provincial Women’s Federation. The spirits of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the 12th CPC Hunan Provincial Congress would be publicized. A variety of volunteer service activities were held in red or revolutionary scenic areas; minority areas; urban commercial districts and sites with special groups; rural tourism destinations; military camps; and, enterprises, including events on caring for volunteers, public welfare performances, Party history publicity, volunteer guide services, civilized tourism, reading promotion, and exhibitions.


After the launching ceremony, cultural tourism volunteers staged art performances at Shaoshan Railway Station Square. Renowned painters and calligraphers as well as intangible cultural heritage inheritors were invited to display their skills and interacted with citizens and tourists.

In recent years, the cultural tourism volunteer services have been thriving in Hunan Province and maintained a good momentum of development. So far Hunan has 19 detachments, 4,031 cultural tourism volunteer service branches, and 361,400 registered cultural tourism volunteers. The province carried out brand activities including Chunyu or Spring Rain Project, Yuanmeng or Fulfill the Dream Project, and Yangguang or Sunshine Project in border areas and at grassroots level.
