The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently unveiled the first batch of 25 national logistics hubs for the 14th Five-year Plan. Hengyang land port logistics hub made the list.
Since 2019, NDRC has designated construction of 70 national logistics hubs in 29 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
According to the Hunan Development and Reform Commission, there are three national logistics hubs in Hunan now, namely, the Hengyang land port hub, and the Changsha land port and the Yueyang port logistics hubs which were shortlisted in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
The national logistics hubs are in six categories – land port, air port, port, production service, commercial and trade service, and land border port. They are comprehensive hubs featuring broad coverage, strong agglomeration effect, superior service functions, and high operation efficiency. They play crucial roles as key joint, important platform, and backbone hub in the logistics network nationwide. They lay a solid foundation for accelerating construction of the “channel + hub + network” modern logistics operation system, forming a new development pattern.
The Hengyang land port logistics hub is on the Beijing-Guangzhou transportation channel, and supported by Xiangjiang River’s 2,000-ton waterways. Based on its superior location, its business covers southern and western regions of Hunan, and stretches to Guangxi, Guangdong, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and even foreign regions such as ASEAN.
Being included into national logistics hubs, Hengyang will enter the national key logistics network, and greet strategic opportunities for constructing logistics hub and developing hub economy. It will leverage its land transportation channels, such as railways and highways, as well as Xiangjiang waterways and transportation stations, and connect with the main transportation lines and branches in inland areas, to guarantee regional production and living, optimize industrial layout, provide domestic and international logistics and regional distribution services, and increase competitiveness of regional economy.
