On November 30, workers were busy checking the storage of dried Artemisia annua in the raw material workshop of a bio-tech company in the Shuangfeng Economic and Technological Development Zone. In recent years, Shuangfeng County has cultivated Artemisia annua. The extracted artemisinin is mainly exported to African countries to be used as basic medicine to fight against malaria. At present, the county’s annual output of artemisinin reaches 70 tons, accounting for about 25% of China’s total annual output. (Photo/Nai Jihui)
