Hunan Releases Rural Revitalization Report for 2021

A Hunan Rural Revitalization Report 2021, also an official blue paper of Hunan Province, was recently released in Changsha. It listed Hunan’s seven main rural revitalization achievements over the past year.

According to the report, Hunan had focused on resolving the problems of unbalanced rural and urban development and inadequate development in rural areas in 2021. It had strived to promote the efficiency and quality of the agricultural sector, make rural areas suitable to live and work in, and ensure that farmers are affluent and well-off, in order to construct a new pattern of modernization of agriculture and rural areas. 
Seven remarkable achievements have been made:
- boosted integrated urban-rural development within counties as a driving force for promoting rural revitalization in an all-round way;
- developed precision agriculture to shoulder the primary responsibility of ensuring national food security;
- improved weak links concerning building a moderately prosperous society in rural areas, with focus put on six key aspects — village roads, drinking water, dangerous building renovation, compulsory education, social insurance, and, community-level public service;
- moved towards the new development stage of making rural areas suitable to live and work in, with the goal of building green countryside;
- boosted rural cultural prosperity to give impetus to rural revitalization;
- explored a long-term mechanism for high-efficiency rural area administration, based on the requirements of integrated rural administrative system; and,
- gave priority to agricultural and rural area development, to consolidate the results of poverty elimination and dovetail new measures with rural revitalization.

The report was formulated by the agriculture, rural areas, and rural people affair experts of the agricultural affairs leadership group of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and supported by the Rural Revitalization Research Institute of Hunan Normal University.
