The list of the much-anticipated 2021newly-elected members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) were announced on November 18th. Five experts from Hunan Province made the list of the final chosen members, marking that Hunan’s high-level innovative talents construction made significant achievements once again.
According to the official CAS website, Professor Li Xiang of the National University of Defense Technology was chosen to be a new CAS academician.
According to the official CAE website, Professor Jiang Tao of the Central South University, Professor Bai Lianyang and Researcher Shan Yang of the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Professor Wu Yiqiang of the Central South University of Forestry and Technology were elected as CAE academicians.
Alongside the five newly-elected academicians, there are currently 44 CAS or CAE academicians working in Hunan Province and 37 ones hired from other provinces.
Among the newly-added academicians, Bai Lianyang, Shan Yang, and Wu Yiqiang have already won the “Hunan Guangzhao Science and Technology Award”. The award has been granted to 69 scientific and technological workers during the previous 12 sessions, of whom 24 were CAS or CAE academicians. The three professors are all reserved engineering academician candidates for the Hunan provincial scientific and technological talents support program. So far, 6 of the 30 reserved academician candidates of the program have been elected as CAS or CAE academicians.
