Hunan and Alaotra-Mangoro Region of Madagascar knot friendship province-region ties via video on the afternoon of November 16th, 2021. At the signing ceremony, Governor Mao stated that Hunan Province and Alaotra-Mangoro Region possess abundant agricultural, mineral, forest, and tourism resources and share broad prospects of cooperation. Hunan is willing to start from the newly-established friendship province-region relation, further enhance friendly bilateral communication, promote shared prosperity and development, jointly work for a brighter future, whilst contributing to deepening bilateral friendships and benefiting both parties.
Alaotra-Mangoro Region is located in the mid-east of the Republic of Madagascar, an island country in Africa. Covering about 33,000 sqkm, it is well-known for its abundant rice, mineral, forest, and fishery resources. The Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences launched a hybrid rice technology demonstration center in Madagascar in 2007. Since then, a new chapter of friendship between Hunan and Alaotra-Mangoro opened. In recent years, the two places have conducted in-depth cooperation in the hybrid rice industrial chain, covering seed production, seed processing, and rice processing. As agreed, the two governments will further reinforce exchanges and cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, economy and trade, culture, education, and tourism, to inject new impetus into the continued development of the China-Madagascar relationship.
