At 0:20 on November 10, 30 packs of Dongting Lake hairy crabs weighing 438 kg from Changde’s Hanshou County were transported to Nairobi, Kenya by air, after completed the customs clearance procedures at Changsha Huanghua International Airport. This marked that Hunan exported its first hairy crabs to Africa.

The supplier was Hanshou Sanjian Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. According to a manager of the company, a client from Nairobi expressed the demand for hairy crabs at the second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo which was held in Changsha in September this year. With the support of the Changsha Customs, the two sides signed the contract soon.

Upon learning of the company's export intention to Africa, the Changde Customs, a subsidiary of the Changsha Customs, quickly collected Kenyan aquatic animal regulations and standards, and issued an animal health certificate that met all the requirements of Kenya. The Changde Customs strengthened supervision at the source, strictly implemented monitoring on safety risk and animal epidemic diseases, and unified export seal management. The authority strengthened the "place of origin-port" interconnectivity, and notified the port as soon as the quarantine and customs clearance completed in the place of origin. The products were inspected upon arrival and were given customs clearance upon inspection. This batch of hairy crabs was loaded at Hanshou County and transported to the Changsha Airport at 12:00 noon on November 9, and started off towards Africa after 12 hours.

At 11:34 on November 10 (Beijing time), this batch of hairy crabs arrived in Nairobi. After completing customs clearance, they entered the local market for sale. In the future, 3 to 4 tons of Dongting Lake hairy crabs will be exported to Kenya.

This year, Hunan has made full use of cooperation mechanisms and platforms such as the "China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo" to promote the growth of trade with Africa and create a pilot zone for in-depth economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa. From January to October, Hunan Province’s trade with Africa was 32.05 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 46.2%.
