On November 10th, 2021, the Liuyang Municipal People’s Government and the Changsha State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to launch a general aviation industry base project in Yonghe Town, Liuyang City.

Yonghe General Aviation Airport, which can be used for commercial passenger flights by aircraft with more than 10 seats, will start construction in the first half of next year. The project location is in the mining area of the former Hunan Phosphorus Chemical Plant. It is the only general aviation airport in Changsha that has the conditions for comprehensive development of low-altitude areas. The planned runway length is 1,200 meters, and the total investment is estimated to be about 5 billion yuan. The project has been included in the "Hunan Province General Aviation Airport Development Plan (2016-2030)". At present, the airport land rights confirmation work is in progress, and efforts are made to speed up the handling and approval of key procedures for the construction of the general aviation airport before the Spring Festival, so as to ensure the start of the construction in the first half of next year.

The general aviation airport mainly provides pilot trainings, aerial inspections, aerial surveying and mapping, meteorological sounding, forest protection, crop-dusting, as well as emergency rescue, business charter service, aerial photography, sightseeing, aerial performances, private flights, short-distance transportation, and air sports.
