On October 30, the Preparatory Committee of the 12th Hunan University Games unveiled the candidates of the Games’ emblem, mascots, and publicity slogans.

The Preparatory Committee released announcements inviting emblem, mascots, and publicity slogans from the public on December 22, 2020. It attracted much attention and received extensive participation of people from all walks of life. As of 18:00 on May 15, 2021, a total of 169 emblems, 44 mascots, and 1,042 publicity slogans were submitted. Five emblems, five mascots, five publicity slogans, and three online popularity awards were selected through expert review and online voting. 

The 12th Hunan University Games will be held in Yueyang in September 2022. It is sponsored by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education and organized by the Hunan Institute of Science and Technology. The overall floorage of ​​the sports and teaching complex which is under construction in the Hunan Institute of Science and Technology is 19,960 square meters. It consists of the main stadium and swimming pool. The completed new stadium for track and field has an overall floorage of ​​20,000 square meters. The new stadium for track and field and the sports and teaching complex building will be the main venue for the 12th Hunan University Games.
