The ambassador came to Hunan to attend the “Lecture on ASEAN-China Relations”.

Secretary Xu welcomed the ambassador and her entourage. Xu noted that, China and Laos are friendly socialist neighbors and in a solid community with a shared future. Supported by the top leaders of the two countries, China and Laos has been constantly consolidating and expanding strategic cooperation in an all-round way. In recent years, Hunan has maintained a good momentum of economic and social development. While further promoting high-level opening-up, Hunan has conducted closer exchanges and cooperation with Laos. Hunan is thoroughly implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech made when he inspected Hunan, and carrying out the Three Highlands and Four New Missions Strategy, to build a modern new Hunan. On the new journey, Hunan will further deepen exchanges and cooperation with Laos based on the good foundation of bilateral collaboration, and jointly share new opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative. He expected to take the ambassador’s visit to Hunan this time as a new starting point to facilitate the achievement of more fruitful results in high-level visits, friendly-city relations, economic and trade contacts, cultural exchange, agricultural development, and pandemic prevention and control of both sides. He hoped to make new contributions to consolidating China-Laos long-standing friendship, and building a community of shared future between the two countries.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh mentioned that Laos and China share close affinity and a longstanding friendship. She felt honored to visit Hunan on the occasion of the centenary of the Communist Party of China and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries. Fruitful collaborations have been made between Laos and Hunan, in such fields as economy, trade, education, infrastructure construction, and pandemic prevention and control. In particular, the setup of the Consulate General of Laos in Changsha was a new milestone for Hunan-Laos cooperation. The Embassy of Laos to China and the Consulate General of Laos in Changsha will vigorously boost broader, deeper, and pragmatic cooperation between Laos and Hunan, and join hands with Hunan to push forward the development of China-Laos Community of a Shared Future.
