A delegation from Shannan City, Tibet Autonomous Region came to Hunan for inspection between September 25 and 28, 2021. On the afternoon of September 28, Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, had a discussion with the guests in Changsha.

Zhang Jianfei, member of the Standing Committee and secretary general of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended.

Secretary Xu noted that providing pairing-up support for Tibet’s Shannan is Hunan’s important political responsibility entrusted by the CPC Central Committee. In recent years, Hunan government has implemented the strategic thought on governing Tibet proposed by President Xi Jinping: while running China, it’s important to govern its border areas first and while administering China’s frontiers it’s important to ensure stability in Tibet first. And Hunan has been following the spirits of the sixth and seventh national meetings on Tibet; focusing on industrial, education, and medical care, and talent assistance to Tibet; promoting the economic and social development of Shannan City; and deepening the friendship between the cadres and the masses of the two places.

Embarking on a new journey of fully building a modern socialist country, Hunan will follow the essence of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches; implement the spirit of the central conference on ethnic affairs; and, further increase support for Shannan in rural revitalization, industrial development, environmental protection, and talent exchanges. We should effectively assist Shannan’s economic and social advancement, and contribute Hunan’s strength to fulfilling the mission of governing borders and stabilizing Tibet, and promoting the building of the community for the Chinese nation, he added.

Tsering Phuntsok, head of the delegation, deputy secretary of the CPC Shannan Municipal Committee, and acting mayor of Shannan City, introduced Shannan’s economic and social progress in recent years. He thanked Hunan’s paired-up assistance to Shannan, and hoped to get further support from Hunan on cadre selection for supporting Tibet, funds, projects, education, and employment.

During their stay in Hunan Province, the delegation participated in the second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. They also visited Hunan First Normal University, Yuelu Academy, New Wellful Shaoshan Base, Pastoral Complex in Sanmen Town of Zhuzhou City, Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) Production Base, and Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Park.
