China-Africa Industrial Park Promotion Conference Held

The China-Africa Industrial Park Promotion Conference, a part of the second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), was held in Changsha on September 27, 2021. Hunan Vice Governor Chen Wenhao attended and delivered a speech.

The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, and undertaken by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electrical Products (CCCIEMEP). A number of ministerial officials, ambassadors, and commercial counselors from Algeria, Benin, Djibouti, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia, and Uganda gave video presentations to the conference. They introduced investment environment and market opportunities of their countries, and spoke highly of the local industrial parks established by Chinese partners. They invited Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in their counties, and expressed high expectations for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.

CCCIEMEP proposed suggestions on accelerating integration of enterprises with vocational schools and universities, together with the China Education Association for International Exchange; and, suggestions on promoting high-quality development of the industrial parks in Africa, together with industrial park representatives present at the conference.

Industrial parks are important platforms for China-Africa investment cooperation. There are 25 economic and trade cooperation zones around Africa which were approved and registered by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. More than 620 enterprises have settled in the parks, with a total investment of 7.35 billion USD. Chinese and African enterprises reached agreements on eight cooperation projects at the conference, with a total contract value of 109 million USD.

Vice Governor Chen noted that, Hunan will be committed to deepening economic and trade cooperation with Africa, exploring a promotion mechanism for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, and creating local highlands for cooperation with Africa. Hunan is willing to work with Africa to jointly building an even closer community with a shared future.
