The China-Africa Financial Cooperation Dialogue, the financial forum of the ongoing second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, was held in Changsha on September 27.
Xie Jianhui, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan; and, Zhang Weiwu, vice president of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, delivered speeches.
Senegalese Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation Amadou Hott; New Development Bank Vice President Leslie Maasdorp; African Development Bank Vice President Kevin Kanina Kariuki; and, Standard Bank Group CEO Sim Tshabalala, addressed the conference via video link.
Xie said that, in recent years, Hunan has actively responded to the Belt and Road Initiative, actively aligned itself with the “ten cooperation plans” and “eight initiatives” between China and Africa, and explored financial cooperation with Africa, with positive results achieved.
Xie noted that finance is a lubricant for China-Africa cooperation. Hunan will take serving the national strategy as its mission; focus on building the Pilot Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation and the China-Africa Cross-Border RMB Center; address the pain points and difficulties in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation; promote the transformation and upgrading of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation; strengthen financial services and innovation capacity; and explore the development of platforms for China-Africa cross-border supply chain finance, barter trade and cross-border e-commerce; provide diversified cross-border RMB products and services for Chinese and African enterprises; open up access to RMB financial services for African countries; facilitate RMB’s internationalization and China-Africa trade and investment; and, create a “Hunan model” for China-Africa financial cooperation.
As the permanent location of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, Hunan will do its best to build good platforms, provide good services, and make greater contributions to the development of bilateral trade and financial cooperation between China and Africa.
