The first China-Africa Food and Agro-Products Cooperation Forum was held on September 27. It was part of the second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. Relevant Chinese and African government officials and representatives of relevant financial and commercial enterprises discussed new paths and new mechanisms for China-Africa cooperation in food and agricultural products via live speeches and video link. He Baoxiang, vice governor of Hunan Province attended.

Trade of food and agricultural products is the focus of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. China’s imports of agricultural products from African countries have grown rapidly for many consecutive years, and China has become Africa’s second largest export destination of agricultural products. Since the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, Hunan has accelerated its efforts to build an African non-resource product distribution trading and processing center. In the first half of this year, imports of food and agricultural products from Africa increased by 80.4% and 88.3% year-on-year respectively.

He Baoxiang said that Hunan will earnestly implement the spirit of the instruction "increasing imports, particularly non-resource products, from Africa " proposed by President Xi Jinping, and will deepen economic and trade cooperation with African countries in the field of food and agricultural products. New mechanisms will be explored to accelerate the construction of China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Innovation Demonstration Park, China-Africa cross-border RMB center, African non-resource product distribution trading and processing center, and support in-depth cooperation. New channels will be expanded to build a three-dimensional logistics system of “sea, land, and air”, to facilitate cooperation. New trading and consumption hotspots will be cultivated to do a good job on the permission from places of origin and market access and safeguard the bottom line of security.

He Baoxiang attended the Promotion Conference on the Pilot Zone for China-Africa In-depth Economic and Trade Cooperation .
