On September 25, a ceremony was held in Changsha to release China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation: Case Studies and Plans, and China-Africa Trade and Economic Relationship Annual Report 2021. The China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Research Institute was officially founded simultaneously. The two materials present 49 latest China-Africa economic and trade cooperation cases, and studies on China-Africa economic and trade relationship in 2019 and 2020, which would provide guides and references for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.
The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) compiled the case studies and plans for two consecutive years, based on the “three transformations” guideline and the principles of being “learnable, replicable, applicable, sustainable, and implementable”.
The 49 cases cover platform construction, agricultural cooperation, cooperation in industrial capacity, infrastructure, energy and mining industry, sci-tech innovation, and digital economy, said Li Xinqiu, deputy director of the Hunan Department of Commerce. The cases show high-quality cooperation explorations in various fields conducted by different market entities, including private and state-owned enterprises, related to 19 African countries and 15 Chinese provinces, municipalities, and regions.
The compilation of the report was led by the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce, and participated by the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Research Society of Hunan Province. The report sorts out China-Africa cooperation progresses and achievements after the first CAETE, and provides analysis and outlook on future development based on new situations.
The report has three parts – comprehensive; regional cooperation; and, enterprise cooperation with Africa.
The comprehensive part analyzes trade in goods, service trade, investment cooperation, infrastructure construction, and China’s assistance to Africa, and presents the general situations of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation in 2019 and 2020.
The regional cooperation part summarizes highlights and characteristics of Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Shandong provinces’ cooperation with African countries.
The enterprise cooperation part lists representative enterprises in trade, investment, and engineering fields nationwide, including enterprises directly under the central government, and state-owned and private ones. It gives an all-round presentation of Chinese enterprises’ experiences and consideration on exploring market, expanding business, and innovating business patterns in cooperation with Africa.
