The fourth Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival Hunan celebrations started in Changsha on September 22, 2021.
Hunan, a powerhouse in agriculture and representative province in the middle reach of the Yangtze River, is a main venue of the national celebrations for the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival this year. Themed “Celebrate Harvest, Extend Gratitude to CPC”, two important events will be launched in Hunan – the “Rice-farming Culture and Food Security Forum” and the “National Farmers’ Cultural and Art Exhibition and Performance”.

It has the largest rice acreage in China, which provides a strong guarantee for the food security of the country.” Li Jinxiang, national chief veterinary officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, spoke highly of Hunan’s agricultural achievements when he addressed the Rice-farming Culture and Food Security Forum held that afternoon. He exchanged views with expert and scholars on the history and cultural connotations of rice-farming civilization in the Yangtze River basin, and discussed significance of rice cultivation for food security.
