2021 World Computing Conference Kicks off in Changsha

On the morning of September 17, the 2021 World Computing Conference opened at the Changsha International Conference Center.


Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.


Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, presided over the meeting.


Before the opening ceremony, Secretary Xu, Governor Mao, and other guests and representatives attending the 2021 World Computing Conference visited the “Computing Innovation and Digital Empowerment” achievement exhibition.

On the morning of September 17, the 2021 World Computing Conference opened at the Changsha International Conference Center. Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, presided over the meeting. Yang Xuejun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of the Academy of Military Sciences, attended.

Wang Zhijun, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, made a speech. Provincial leaders Xie Jianhui, Zhang Jianfei, Wu Guiying, and Chen Fei; Li Xiang, president of the National University of Defense Technology; Rui Xiaowu, secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and chairman of the board of the China Electronics Corporation; Liu Liehong, secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and chairman of the board of the China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd.; Chinese and foreign academicians, well-known industry experts, and scholars; and, representatives of companies in computing-related fields, were present.

Xu Dazhe said that in recent years, Hunan has earnestly carried out the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on implementing innovation-driven development strategies and building China into a cyberspace powerhouse. It has promoted the construction of computing and related industrial chains, and built a computing industry ecosystem integrating basic software and hardware, application software, security services, and complete machine and system. This has added important new momentum to accelerating transformation and upgrading and promoting high-quality development.

The conference was hosted by the People's Government of Hunan Province and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In addition to the opening ceremony and the opening forum, there will also be 6 theme summits, 3 special events, 2 competitions, lectures given by renowned scholars, international youth academic exchanges, and achievements exhibitions.

Seven domestic and foreign guests including Yang Xuejun; Liu Liehong; Liu Qingfeng, chairman of the iFLYTEK Corporation; John Hennessy, winner of Turing Award; Zhou Xiangyu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Chen Xiaohong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and, Chen Liming, IBM chairman of the Greater China region, gave speeches at the opening forum.

Before the opening ceremony, Secretary Xu and Governor Mao had a discussion with guest representatives attending the 2021 World Computing Conference and visited the “Computing Innovation and Digital Empowerment” achievement exhibition together. On the same day, seven major projects including the World Computing - Changsha Intelligence Valley started construction.
