The 2021 Green Travel Promotion Month and Public Transportation Promotion Week were launched in Yueyang on September 16. According to the launching ceremony, the dominant role of public transportation in Hunan Province has been consolidated, the province’s ability to provide public transportation supply has been significantly enhanced, infrastructure has been greatly improved, and green and smart travel has become the norm.
Yueyang is the first market of "Songguo Travel" in Hunan. There are a total of 350 vehicles in operation. Forty "Songguo Station" physical stop signs are set up in central urban area. There is no fixed charging station. Citizens do not need to apply for a card when using the bikes. They only need to download the “Songguo Travel” App on their mobile phones or directly scan the QR code via WeChat or Alipay. This helps meet the diverse needs of travel.
The number of new energy buses in Hunan ranks among the top in the country. As of the end of 2020, there were 32,229 buses and trams, including 22,812 pure electric vehicles, 6,253 hybrid vehicles, and 1,718 natural gas vehicles. Green buses accounted for 95.51%, ranking first in the country.
At present, Changsha and Zhuzhou have won the title of national public transportation city. Changde and Loudi are applying for the title. Yiyang and Yongzhou are making efforts to win the title of provincial-level public transportation demonstration city. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Hunan plans to establish about 10 national and provincial public transportation demonstration cities.
Hunan has witnessed rapid development in diversified bus services. China’s first low- and medium-speed magnetic levitation train opened to traffic in Changsha City. The city has successively built 5 subways, and opened 20 community buses. The world's first autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) line was put into operation in Zhuzhou, providing commuter services for dwellers and students. Changde established a “Party Member Demonstration Route”, a dedicated tourist line, and "Left-Behind Children's Dedicated Line". Yongzhou provides "flight attendant style" service, "smile service" and "bus chief system" on buses. The province's new business patterns are booming such as online car-hailing, bike sharing, and small and micro-vehicle rental.
