On the afternoon of September 15, Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, and Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, met in Changsha with Zhuang Rongwen, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, director of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, and director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, and other guests. They came to attend the First International Summit on BDS Applications.

Secretary Xu welcomed the guests on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province. He said that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, and the hard work of several generations of talents in aerospace, China has built and opened the homegrown BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS). It has brought significant economic and social benefits and created a brand new calling card for opening up and exchange. Hunan is the technology source and core technology support of BDS construction. We will take the opportunity of hosting the First International Summit on BDS Applications to further cooperate closely with relevant national ministries and commissions, scientific research institutes, colleges and universities, and enterprises. We will continue to inherit and carry forward the BeiDou spirit in the new era; strengthen the building of BDS application ecology; and, make every effort to polish Hunan’s new calling card of BDS applications. He expected the guests to keep guiding and supporting Hunan’s development, and jointly promote the BDS development to a new level.

Director Zhuang noted that BDS is a pillar of the great power related to the national economy and the people's livelihood. The CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core has been attaching great importance to the development of BDS cause. After continuous efforts of the generations of talents in aerospace, the BDS construction and development has achieved world-renowned results. He hoped that the preparation and organization for this international summit will be an opportunity to gather consensus from all parties and form a broad synergy. This would promote deeper and more pragmatic exchanges and cooperation between international and domestic governments and enterprises; stimulate the vitality of the development of the BDS application industry; further push forward BDS applications expanding to various industries and fields in China and extending to countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” route; and, make new and greater contributions to accelerating the high-quality development of China’s economy and the co-building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
