A launching ceremony for the promotion and implementation of the Green Architecture Development Regulations of Hunan Province was held in Changsha on September 14, 2021. The regulations will be promoted and implemented around the province, to further boost transformation and development of construction industry.
Green architecture refers to high-quality civil buildings. During its life cycle, it can conserve resources, protect environment, reduce pollution, provide healthy, safe, livable, and efficient space for residents, and achieve a harmonious co-existence between human and nature. Green buildings are categorized into basic, one-star, two-star, and three-star classes, from low to high level, based on the national standards.
The regulations will take effect on October 1 this year. One of the highlights is that, the implementation scope, classes, and goals of green architecture are specified in the regulations:
The civil buildings newly built within the urban development boundary in the national territorial spatial planning should reach the basic-class standard;
The public buildings which cover more than 3,000 sqm and are invested, or mainly invested, by government; and, other buildings covering more than 20,000 sqm, should be constructed in prefabricated or other green construction modes, and reach one-star class standard;
Other public and residential buildings are encouraged to be constructed at one-star or above class standard.
The event is guided by the Hunan Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and hosted by the Hunan Steel Structure Green Building Industrial Association.
