The second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo will be held in Changsha on Sept. 26. The Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce announced on Sept. 12 that the organizing committee has collected 554 cooperative projects worth 63.41 billion yuan as of Sept. 10, with the number exceeding the first session.
There are 386 projects aiming to seek cooperation at the expo, and 168 to be signed during the event. So far 123 projects worth 14.3 billion yuan have passed preliminary review, involving such fields as trade, investment, project contracting, and strategic cooperation.
These projects have distinctive characteristics. Firstly, they have varied sources. A total of 345 projects are submitted by Hunan Province, China’s other provinces, and central enterprises, and 209 by African embassies in China. Secondly, there are rich project categories, including 33 trade projects, 44 engineering projects, 28 investment projects, and 48 strategic cooperation projects. Thirdly, funding sources are diversified, including equity fund, investment fund, equity financing, and bank financing. In particular, from the perspective of project financing methods, projects applied for contracting this time are mainly funded by equity fund and project financing, unlike previous African projects that mainly relied on policy financing.
