Chenzhou Beihu Airport to Open on Sept. 16

The Chenzhou Beihu Airport has been approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to official open on September 16, 2021.

Two air routes – Chenzhou-Beijing (Daxing Airport), and Shanghai-Chenzhou-Beihai – will be opened firstly, with four flights operated every week for each route. The first flight will fly from Beihu Airport to Beijing’s Daxing Airport. Several other routes are on the schedule for the winter and spring seasons starting from late October, including Guiyang-Chenzhou-Wenzhou, Chongqing-Chenzhou-Ningbo (Haikou), Chongqing-Chenzhou-Jieyang, and Kunming-Chenzhou-Quanzhou. The flight schedule will be subject to CAAC approvals.

Chenzhou Beihu Airport is located in Huatang Town, Beihu District. It is 20 km away from Chenzhou downtown, and can have a beneficial effect on more than 20 million people around. It will become a hub on the tourism routes connecting southern Hunan, border areas of Hunan and Jiangxi, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It has an estimated investment of 2.13 billion yuan. The Aircraft Movement Area Reference Code reaches 4C. The total length of its runways hit 2,600 meters. The design was made based on meeting the demands of the year of 2025, with terminal area handling 550,000 passenger trips, 3,000 tons of cargos, and 7,300 flights. There are a 6,419-sqm terminal, six stands on station site, and complete supporting facilities for navigation, weather, fuel supply, and fire rescue. 

The construction of the airport began in January 2019. It conducted the first flight inspection in this March, and then passed through trial flight and aircraft movement area, air traffic control, professional civil aviation support, terminal area, and fuel supply examinations.
