Yicheng Think Tank released the 2021 list of China's top 100 municipal districts in terms of high-quality development on September 8. Hunan has 6 districts on the list, and all of them are in Changsha. This is the first time that all Changsha’s six districts have been included. Among them, Yuhua District ranked 15th nationwide and 1st in central China.
These municipal districts were evaluated in seven major aspects: comprehensive indicators, innovative development, coordinated development, green development, open development, shared development, and safe development. All Changsha’s six districts saw improvement in their rankings. Yuhua, Furong, Kaifu, Tianxin and Yuelu Districts were among the top 50, while Wangcheng District ranked 51st. Yuhua District moved up by three places compared to last year.
In 2020, Yuhua District’s GDP totaled 219.3 billion yuan, leading urban districts in central China. As of August, Yuhua District had become Hunan’s first district with the total number of market entities exceeding 200,000, and its number of market entities per 10,000 people was the most in the province.
At the Sixth CPC Yuhua District Congress held over a month ago, the district put forward the goal of “leading central China and entering China’s top ten districts” in the next five years.
According to a person in charge of Yuhua District authority, the district will focus on the Yuhua Economic Development Zone, three major areas (Yatang, High-speed Rail New Town, and Hongxing Areas), and Gaoqiao and High-speed Rail New Town Blocks of the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area, to bolster its high-quality development.
